Salary: £40,037 to £74,661 per annum depending on experience.
A whole time post is now available for POST CCT Fellow In Musculoskeletal Radiology. This is a new post to provide training and opportunity to perform research and publish in MSK radiology.
The post will be based within Derriford Hospital, which is a major teaching hospital located on the outskirts of the city of Plymouth and is part of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
Most of the regional specialist units are located in the Hospital, including Cardiothoracic and Neurosurgery. The hospital was declared a Major Trauma Centre in the early part of 2012. The Peninsula Radiology Academy is situated a short distance from the site and provides an excellent environment for teaching. Successful candidates would be encouraged to contribute to the teaching of Radiology Specialist Registrars. Strong links to the University of Plymouth provide excellent opportunities for research.
The successful applicant will complement a team of 4.3 FTE radiologists and a specialist MSK sonographer to deliver a broad range of musculoskeletal radiology. The team members are core members of the regional Sarcoma team. The team also provides an innovative one stop ultrasound service for the Orthopaedic and Rheumatology Patients. The applicant will also be provided opportunity to lead research projects and publish in peer reviewed journals. The applicant will be encouraged and supported to present presentations at the National (BSSR) and International conferences (ESSR and ISS).The department currently has 6 CT scanners and 4 MRI scanners, but has plans to commission two new 3T Magnets in the autumn of 2020

Any person who is unable to work full time for personal reasons, will be eligible to be considered for the post. Changes to the time table and content would be discussed on a personal basis if such a person was appointed. Applicants should have a CCT or equivalent, and entered onto the GMC Specialist Register. Applicants who are within six months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC may also apply. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their competence to communicate in spoken and written English.
