 CONSULTANT HISTOPATHOLOGIST 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic Consultant Histopathologist to join our internationally recognised team based at Cheltenham General Hospital.

The successful applicant will join a fast developing department, part of the Gloucestershire Academy of Medicine (University of Bristol) and the possibility of becoming Honorary Lecturer.

We have a friendly working environment where colleagues feel relatable and supportive with one another. We routinely work with expert practitioners in dissection and we are planning to change our diagnostic workflow using digital pathology for primary diagnosis.

The department works by sub-specialities and the applicant will have the opportunity to join at least two established specialist teams. Applications are especially welcome but not limited to those with interests in gynaecological pathology, gastrointestinal and urology.

The department has a strong record in gastrointestinal teaching, hosting the Gloucestershire Gastro-intestinal Pathology Conference. We are a Cancer Centre and receive a wide variety of complex urological and gynaecological specimens from the County and neighbouring Trusts.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides services to a population of over 620,000 processing 42,400 specimens per year. We have recently been awarded an improved CQC rating of Good and have an ambitious plan for our journey to Outstanding.

Cheltenham is the Cotswolds’ cultural hub, an attractive city with a spa heritage and famous for its excellent schools and quality of life. There is good rail and road access to Bristol, Birmingham, South Wales and London.

Whilst the post is established at 10 PAs workload management protocols are currently in place which means that further sessions may be available for the right applicant.
