We are looking for an individual to fill this new post within the Paediatric Radiology Department at the Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital.
Leeds Children’s Hospital is one of the largest Children’s Hospitals in the UK, providing a comprehensive range of acute and elective secondary and specialist tertiary clinical services to over 300,000 children, living within Yorkshire & Humber and beyond. As part of building hospitals for the future, there is the exciting prospect of the new Children’s Hospital in Leeds which will provide state of the art facilities including paediatric radiology facilities and minimally invasive techniques such as those supported by paediatric radiology
Leeds is a major trauma centre for paediatrics, is one of 3 designated centers within the UK for Paediatric Liver transplantation, and one of the largest centres in the UK for Cystic Fibrosis and Paediatric Surgery. The Children’s and Teenage Young Adult Haematology and Oncology service, is one of the UK’s leading centres for research and has recently won a national award for innovation and excellence.
Applicants are invited for this full time Consultant Paediatric Radiology post to join a team of 8 experienced enthusiastic Consultant Paediatric Radiologists, who currently provide a comprehensive range of Paediatric Radiology services for the Children’s Hospital
You will be expected to provide a high quality service in paediatric MRI, CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and plain film reporting alongside developing a specialist interest in PETCT and nuclear medicine to complement the existing subspecialist interests of the current paediatric radiologists as well as participating with the on call rota. This post supports the expansion across all aspects of our clinical services including the rapid expansion of paediatric interventional radiology and consolidates the paediatric radiology workforce in preparation for the exciting prospect of the new Leeds Children’s Hospital.
The Paediatric Radiology Team are part of one of the largest Radiology Clinical Services Unit’s and Radiology Training schemes in the country, with the Radiology Academy being one of only 3 within the UK. The appointee will also be expected to actively participate in Academy teaching, Radiology training and departmental Audit. We would also actively encourage participation within research.
The successful applicant should possess FRCR (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in paediatricradiology and its related specialties including PET CT. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
