Consultant Radiologist with a Subspecialty interest in Paediatric Imaging

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist post at Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust London. This is a replacement post as a result of Consultant retirement.

The posts is full time, attracting 10 programmed activities and consideration will be given to a part time appointment for any applicant unable or not wishing to work full time.

The successful applicant will join a team of 23 dedicated Radiologists working across the 2 main hospital sites at St Helier Hospital and Epsom General Hospital. We also offer radiology services at our satellite sites at Leatherhead and Jubilee health Centre in Wallington.

We have close links to the Elective Orthopedic Centre based on the Epsom site as well as the Royal Marsden Hospital at Sutton.

The posts is for a Consultant with a special interest in Paediatric imaging however we are a rapidly expanding department and other specialist interests such as, respiratory, head and neck imaging and nuclear medicine to support our existing Consultants will be given consideration.

Our Consultant Radiologists have Trust wide responsibilities either through professional commitments or as part of clinical leadership roles.

All our trust sites are fully equipped with Sectra PACS, Soliton radiology management system (RIS) and Soliton voice recognition.

We are part of the South West London Collaborative working on several work streams for sharing workforce, IT solutions and joint procurement amongst several other priorities with a plan to jointly procure shared Radiology PACS and RIS systems across the SWL network.

We have a Managed equipment service contract with Althea for planned replacement of our radiology equipment over the 7 year term. This has included replacement of all our ageing ultrasound units, image intensifiers and mobile x-ray equipment to current technology and expanded our fleet of CT and MRI scanners trust wide.

Both are A/E department have been fully refurbished with digital equipment, we have a newly refurbished Nuclear medicine department, 2 new Siemens fluoroscopy units, a new Dexa scanner, a replacement CT scanner at Epsom with newly refurbished facilities as well as a 3rd MRI scanner for the trust at St Helier Hospital. We have a dedicated interventional suite with provision for day case beds.

Consultants are expected to participate in the St George’s Medical School teaching programme for postgraduate specialty radiology trainees as well as supporting in-house training and development of technicians and radiographers.

We are outsourcing overnight CT scans however the post holder will be expected to participate in extended evening and weekend working shared with consultant colleagues

Applicants are expected to be on the GMC specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. Applications from those unable to work full time are welcome.
