Speciality Doctor in Learning Disability Psychiatry
This vacancy is not part of the Wessex Core Psychiatry and GP Training rotation.
The post is full-time. Requests for full time working will be considered. There is no on-call / out-of-hours working associated with this post, although successful candidates may wish to discuss as to whether they wish to opt in to out-of-hours working.
The area covered by the trust has excellent communication links with fast trains to London in just over an hour from Southampton, a local airport with flights to many European destinations and good road links to the south west, along the south coast, towards London via the M3 and towards Oxford via the A34. The area includes thriving towns and areas of natural beauty such as the New Forest and sailing locations along the south coast. The area contains many excellent state and private schools.
This post is with our Community Learning Disability Team covering West and North and Mid Hants CLDT shared between two different teams. The teams take a holistic approach to the assessment and management of our patient population and the post holder would be expected to work to this ethos. The teams accept referrals from a range of sources including the service users, their carers or primary care. The post holder will work with a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide Psychiatric input to the patient population.
The post will not be recognized for training but the Trust will provide training and CPD opportunities in line with the requirements for Specialty Doctors.
Post holders will be required to have the ability to fulfil the travelling commitment of the posts with transport within the parameters of the Equality Act 2010.
Applicants must also hold full registration with a license to practice with the GMC at the time of the application.
