Publishing Terms

All the content on the Middle East Medical Portal (MEMP) is intended for medical doctors and healthcare professionals. MEMP is NOT for members of the public.

Website Content

‘Content’  includes written articles, videos, presentations, audio files, webinars, courses, and conferences.

‘Content Producer’ include authors, video/audio/webinar/conference presenters, PowerPoint presentation creators, Societies, Hospitals/Clinics, and Healthcare organizations.

All content must use inclusive language acknowledges diversity, conveys respect to all people, is sensitive to differences, and promotes equal opportunities. Content should make no assumptions about the beliefs or commitments of any reader, should contain nothing which might imply that one individual is superior to another on the grounds of race, sex, culture or any other characteristic, and should use inclusive language throughout. Content Producers should ensure that content is free from bias, for instance by using ‘he or she’, ‘his/her’ instead of ‘he’ or ‘his’, and by making use of job titles that are free of stereotyping.

Identifying information should not be published in written descriptions, videos, photographs, sonograms, CT scans, etc., and pedigrees unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or parent/guardian, wherever applicable) provides informed consent for publication. Content Producers should remove patients’ names from figures, unless they have obtained informed consent from the patients.

For content that involves studies involving people, medical records, human tissues, or original animal data, a documented submission and approval is required from a formally constituted review board (Institutional Review Board or Ethics committee), irrespective of the study design. Content Producers should include a statement on ethics approval at the beginning or end of the Methods section. If the study was exempt from review by the review board, please add a statement stating the same. The statements of ethical approval (or exemption) must contain the following information: the name and address of the ethics committee responsible; the protocol number that was attributed by this ethics committee; and the date of approval (exemption) by the ethics committee. Investigators who do not have access to a formal constituted review board should indicate if the research was carried out in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, 2013. In addition, investigators must always obtain the informed consent of participants. If not possible, the institutional review board must state if this is ethically acceptable. The authors should also ensure confidentiality of subjects by not mentioning participants’ identifiers such as names, initials, phone or fax numbers, medical record number, etc. anywhere in the content.

For experiments involving animals, investigators must state the care of animal and licensing guidelines under which the study was performed and report these in accordance with the ARRIVE (Animals in Research: Reporting In Vivo Experiments) statement. If ethics clearance was not necessary, or if there was any deviation from these standard ethical requests, please state why it was not required. If the authors have approval from a National Drug Agency (or similar) please state this and provide details.

The content is the responsibility of the Content Producer. MEMP Ltd hereby excludes any and all liability and responsibility for any amount or kind of loss or damage that may result to you, or the Content Producer, or a third party (including, without limitation, any (i) direct, indirect, punitive or consequential loss or damage, (ii) loss of income, profits, goodwill, data, contracts or use of money, or (iii) loss or damage arising from or connected in any way to business interruption, and whether any of the foregoing are in tort, contract or otherwise) in connection with the content by the provider.

The images that Content Producers provides is the legal responsibility of the provider.

MEMP Ltd is not responsible for the content of external websites that Content Providers may include. The Site may include links to external websites from time to time and when you access these links you may leave the Site. External websites are not part of the Site and we do not endorse or accept any responsibility for the content of external websites (nor the products or services on them), are not responsible for the availability of external websites and will not be liable in any way for any loss or damage which you may suffer by using external websites, including, without limitation, viruses that may infect computer equipment, software, data or other property.
