Professor Tara Rampal is a Consultant Anaesthetist with a keen interest in Peri-Operative care and Tele- Health. She is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Greenwich. She is the Founder of QuestPrehab that powers the award-winning Kent and Medway Prehab Project, a pan-county multi organisation collaborative supporting Cancer patients to get fitter through physical and psychological interventions. It is supported by Public Health and Cancer Alliance. She is passionate about the potential of digital tools in changing the healthcare landscape and frequently speaks at events discussing innovation in healthcare.

AGENDA

Prehabilitation (“prehab”) involves identifying and promoting health-optimising behaviours to mitigate the unwanted consequences of cancer treatment. The benefits of prehabilitation for cancer patients have been well documented. Improvements are functional capacity, clinical outcomes and adoption of healthy lifestyles are a few of the many positives of prehabilitation. Yet it is not a standard part of treatment pathways across the UK. The session will go through a rapid review of the current literature, elements of Prehabilitation, and barriers to implementation predictions for the future.
